VP800 Series: I hooked up
my PC but get the Lightware logo screen.
- Check your VGA cable. Take both ends out of the computer and projector.
Check that no pins are bent, pushed in, or broken. Reconnect everything,
turn on the projector, then reboot the computer.
- Make sure that the computer is sending out a signal to the projector.
Most laptop computers do not automatically send out signals to external
devices, such as projectors. You must instruct your computer to send
out a signal, and different computer manufacturers do this in different
ways. Check your user's manual. Look under "Enable External Monitor"
or "Activate External Monitor Port."
- Most manufacturers use a Function key. Look for a Function key (i.e.
F1, F2, etc.) with the letters "LCD/CRT," or a picture of
two monitors. Hold down the "Fn" key (lower left-hand corner
of the laptop) and press the appropriate Function key. You may have
to do this twice, and the laptop screen may go black.
- Check that the resolution of your computer matches that of your projector.
For desktop computers, attach the desktop monitor to the projector to
see Windows.
- a) On your computer, click the Start button in Windows
b) Go to Settings
c) Go to Control Panel.
d) Double click the "Display" icon.
e) Select the "Settings" tab
f) Halfway down the dialog box is "Desktop Area." Drag the
tab to the left until it reads "800 by 600 pixels.
g) Click "Apply." The computer may ask if you want to keep
the settings, and may need to reboot. Click "OK" until the
computer returns to the Settings tab. You are now in SVGA resolution.
Your laptop screen may have a black border around the image.
h) Even after changing your laptop screen to 800x600 resolution, a laptop
computer may not send out the proper signal to the projector. You may
need to turn off the laptop screen to make the computer send out the
proper signal. Use the "Fn" button and the appropriate function
key (as instructed in #2 above) to turn the laptop screen black. The
keyboard and mouse are unaffected.
