General: Logo (No Signal) screen with a VCR?

  • Disconnect and reconnect the video cable from both ends (VCR and projector).
  • Make sure to use the correct video cable. The supplied RCA video cable (the most commonly used) is a thin, light gray cable with a single gold-colored pin. A store-bought cable is likely color-coded yellow. The black cable with red and white plugs is audio only, and will not work for video.
  • To use S-Video, use the black cable with four gold pins. Note: Most VCRs do not accept S-Video. Look for an "S-Video out" jack on the back of the VCR.
  • Make sure the cables are correctly hooked into the VCR. Most VCRs will have a section of jacks labeled "out" and a section of jacks labeled "in." The cables must be hooked up to the VCR "out" video jacks. RCA video jacks will be color-coded yellow. If it is unclear which set of jacks is "in" or "out," try every yellow jack until one works.
  • Make sure the cable is correctly hooked into the projector. If using the standard RCA cable (most likely), connect to the yellow "video in" jack. If using S-video, connect to the "S-Video in" jack.
  • Make sure the VCR is on. Some VCRs have a "sleep" or "timer" mode. Turn the VCR’s power off and on a couple times.
  • If the projector displays a blue screen, hit "play."
  • Try another cable. Video cables can be easily purchased in hardware, electronics, or many department stores.
  • Note: Many TV/VCR combination units do not have any video out. Consult the owner’s manual. If the TV/VCR combination does not have video out, it cannot be used with the projector.
