ASKED QUESTIONS
VP800 Series: Using the VP
with XGA laptop computers.
- Problem: Projector does not display image, or image is cropped or
missing portions on the side and bottom.
- Issue: The laptop screen is XGA (1024x768) resolution and the VP800
projector is SVGA (800x600) resolution.
- Part One: Change Laptop Resolution to SVGA (Windows 95).
1. Hit the Start Button.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Go to Control Panel.
4. Double click the "Display" icon.
5. Select the "Settings" tab.
6. Halfway down the dialog box is "Desktop Area." Drag the
tab to the left until it reads "800 by 600 pixels."
7. Click "Apply." The computer may ask if you want to keep
the settings, and may need to reboot. Hit "OK" until the computer
returns to the Settings tab.
- Even when you have changed your laptop screen to SVGA resolution,
the computer may still not be sending out a proper signal to the VP800
projector. To get the computer to send a proper signal to the VP800,
you must turn the laptop screen off.
- Different computer manufacturers turn off laptop screens in different
ways. You may want to check your users manual. Look under "Disable
Laptop Screen" or "Activate External Monitor Port."
- Most manufacturers will do this with a Function key. Look for a Function
key (i.e. F1, F2, etc.) with the letters "LCD/CRT," or a picture
of two monitors. Hold down the "Fn" key (lower left-hand corner
of the laptop) and press the appropriate Function key. You may have
to do this twice to turn off the laptop screen.
- The function key provides three options, and you can loop through
them in a toggle fashion.
Laptop screen, no projector.
Both the laptop and the projector.
No laptop screen, projector displays image. This is the screen that
will display the best image. This should eliminate cropping across image.
It may also eliminate roll or jitter.
